CalmWater Corner

Welcome to the first edition of CalmWater Corner for 2024. We thought it would be appropriate to review some key IRS changes this year.

86% of Americans take the standard tax deduction. For 2024 the standard deduction has increased to $14,600 for Single filers and $29,200 for Married filing jointly.
There has been a 5.4% increase in income thresholds to reach each new tax bracket. In other words, you can make a little more money this year before you get bumped in to a higher bracket.
Your maximum 401k contribution has increased to $23,000 with the “catch up” contribution for those 50 and over remains unchanged at $7,500.
Annual IRA contributions have increased to $7,000 and the “catch up” contribution for those over 50 stays at $1,000.
